Our Beginnings

Our founders have been in the ecommerce game since 2006—when dial-up internet still ruled. The ecommerce company they started was among the first to be listed in Yahoo’s “Directory,” and we made the Inc. 5000 list as one of the fastest-growing companies in America in 2008.

As the ecommerce landscape exploded in the coming years, it was an exciting time for online marketers. But it was also unsettling. Would our competitors discover something we were missing? Was there some magic pill to get a big spike in visitors? Everyone was looking for the one tactic to rule over all other methods for building an internet company.


Through years of trial and error, we learned that these initial forms of ecommerce marketing were often oversimplified. We discovered that there are only two ways to consistently drive sustainable growth through more traffic and more conversions: brand and demand.

Brand captures conversions through audience understanding applied to customer experience. Demand drives targeted traffic to a website.

Both elements are required for there to be any marketing sanity. The components of the two strategies create a formula for online success.
